Spa in BF Paranaque “The Mandara Spa in BF Paranaque” for the mind, body and soul
Having a spa treatment is something you should be able to look forward to — a little pampering here, a little relaxation there. But when you have psoriasis, the experience can be anything but fun, even when all you want is a massage.
Yes, I have psoriasis. What is psoriasis? Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease which is characterized by patches of abnormal skin. These skin patches are typically red, itchy, and scaly. They may vary in severity from small and localized to complete body coverage. Injury to the skin can trigger psoriatic skin changes at that spot, which is known as the Koebner phenomenon.
There are five main types of Psoriasis: plaque, guttate, inverse, pustular, and erythrodermic. I suffer from Guttate Psoriasis. It started to show up when I was 15 years old and I have been managing the symptoms by eating the proper diet and trying to avoid as much factors that trigger my flaring up.
Living with psoriasis can make going to a spa or a salon very challenging, in part because some products or services can aggravate symptoms, but also because there is a psoriasis stigma among people who aren’t familiar with the condition. Anyway, that’s what I feel every time I want to go to spa. Aside from the physical disabilities associated with psoriasis, the disease carries with it significant psycho social issues. Scaling in the skin, red spots or white patches can be embarrassing and prevent you from feeling comfortable going to the spa. Plus, massage therapists may assume patients are infectious and not want to treat you, when in fact the condition results from inflammation in the skin and is NOT contagious.
This is the reason why my friends had a hard time convincing me to give this new spa in Paranaque a try, even though they had high praises for the place. I am always hesitant to go to a new spa and have to explain what psor is, and that it’s not contagious. So I got in touch with the management before my visit and as luck would have it, I was able to speak with the owner. I was pleasantly surprised when I was told that yes indeed, The Mandara Spa in Paranaque has experience with clients who have Psoriasis! Firstly because the owner personally has a friend with Psor, and they have a regular customer with the same condition. That was all I needed…Let’s go, it’s spa time!
“The Mandara Spa, Paranaque is located at: #13 President’s Avenue corner Rufino Avenue Tahanan Village Parañaque, you may reach them at – 0925 556 8858.
A soothing world as you enter.
At the moment you walk thru the door, the lighting and the decor together with the aromatic scents begin to relax you. The receptionist greets me and helpfully explains the services and packages that they offer. I’m given a warm heating pad to place on my neck and shoulders, I can feel The Mandara Spa’s comforting touch. A warm cup of tea is offered to all customers, which puts one in a more tranquil state.
In this stressful and chaotic world, everyone is on the go and in such a hurry. Taking time out for oneself is often neglected. These awesome heat pads that they have at The Mandara Spa starts soothing the pain and aches around the neck and shoulder area.
Basically the best massage.
There were a lot of ways that I was pampered at this spa. I was queen Pancake for a day, I can imagine how Cleopatra must have felt like.
Before my actual massage, I had a manicure and pedicure which is another service that they offer. I liked it very much because they have their own special nail polish, plus they were very gentle while working on my nails.
Let’s get to the point though. Aside from their other services which are also top notch, the quality of the massage that you get in a spa is the most important part of your visit. I chose the The Mandara Signature treatment. It includes being massaged with their “hot stone type thingies” (forgive me, but I was such at a relaxed state at this point, so I wasn’t able to ask what those wonderful warm stone objects that my therapist rubbed on my back were officially called.) and essential oils. But in my case, they used extra virgin coconut oil which worked better for my Psoriasis.
How good was it? I’m convinced that my therapist used wizardry to enchant me by using her magic fingers to vanish the knots and pains in my body, I totally dozed off like sleeping beauty after she was done with me.
But seriously, the therapist was an expert and very professional. She massaged my body so evenly and equally as skillful on both sides. Working on every important pressure point in the body, giving a symmetrically relaxing feeling all over.
I had a great massage here!
This spa exceeded all my expectations, which are always lofty when it comes to spas. I am very picky about the technical aspects of the massage and products used because of my sensitive skin. I could easily tell that the therapists were highly trained. I would say they were better than most of the massage specialists I had encountered so far, which means a lot. My therapist, Janet made sure not to cause any bruising or additional pains during the entire session. Deep tissue massage does not require pain or bruising and I have experienced that in some of my past therapy sessions.

Let me state the obvious by saying, “I love my nails”. I have been to so many salons and I have also been disappointed by a lot of them too, because either the service did not care much about the clients, or were just too inexperienced for people with sensitive skin. I have sensitive nails as well, so every time I went to a salon I had to let them know to take it easy on my nails and not scratch my skin. This did not happen here at The Mandara Spa in Paranaque. I had my nails done with Janet, she is just so nice and caring. Thank you. I will be coming back soon to get pampered again!!! I Love you ‘The Mandara Spa, Paranaque!

Janet, my masseuse, was excellent! From greeting me with her beautiful smile, to her magical soothing hands. My body thanked me for coming to this spa afterwards.
